Mythology Summary

Freyr is the Vanir god of fertility, peace and the harvest, who rules the rain and the sunlight and owns the ship Skidbladnir and the boar Gullinbursti. He gives away his sword for love of the giantess Gerd, which is why he is unarmed at Ragnarok.

Modern Practice

Freyr is called on for the fertility of land and household, for peace between people, and for the prosperity that comes from a good year. His practice is seasonal and agricultural, and his warnings are the warnings of the harvest.
