Mythology Summary

Lugh is the Irish master of every art, who arrives at the door of Tara and is admitted only when he names a skill no one else has. He kills his grandfather Balor with a sling stone and institutes the harvest games of Lughnasadh in memory of his foster-mother Tailtiu.

Modern Practice

Lugh is called on for skill, for the completion of a craft, for competition fairly entered, and for oaths sworn in the open. His festival is the first harvest; his practice is to bring the work rather than the claim.
