Celtic horned god associated with wild nature, animals, fertility, life-death-rebirth cycles. The name is securely attested only once, on the 1st-century Pillar of the Boatmen from Paris; everything else is iconographic (stag antlers, seated cross-legged, torque and serpent), and no myth of him survives. Lord of liminal forest spaces. The reading of him as the untamed masculine wild, and as the 'horned god' of modern witchcraft, is a modern synthesis rather than an ancient text.
Modern Practice
Patron of wild spaces, hunters, those reclaiming primal nature. Invoked for nature connection, masculine wildness work, animal magic. Teaches sovereignty of the untamed, cycles of life and death.
