Mythology Summary

Terminus is the Roman god of boundary stones, whose festival the Terminalia was the one day when even the neighbours' disputes were set aside and the stones were garlanded. Jupiter himself, the story goes, could not move a boundary stone to make room for his own temple.

Modern Practice

Terminus is called on when a limit has to be set and held: a property line, a working boundary, a rule between people. His practice is to mark the thing physically and then refuse to move it.
