Mythology Summary

Justitia is the Roman personification of justice, shown with scales and a sword and later blindfolded, who measures without favour and executes the measure. She is not mercy and was never meant to be.

Modern Practice

Justitia is called on before a legal matter, in a dispute, and when a wrong has to be named precisely. Her practice is written rather than felt: make the account accurate before you ask for a verdict.
