Serket is the Egyptian scorpion goddess, one of the four guardians of the canopic jars (she guards Qebehsenuef) and a protectress of both the dead and the living. Her name means 'she who causes the throat to breathe'; she is invoked against venom and for the breath of life, and is as much a goddess of healing and magic as of poison. Her best-known myth is the healing of the child Horus after a scorpion's sting, and she is one of the four goddesses who guard the coffin of Osiris. The planetary and zodiacal values here are modern readings.
Modern Practice
