Sobek is the Egyptian crocodile god, lord of the Nile, the marshes and their creatures, and a god of pharaonic power, fertility and military valour. He is 'he who makes the Nile rise', and is frequently merged with Ra as Sobek-Ra. His cult centres were Crocodilopolis (Shedet) in the Fayum and Kom Ombo, where he was worshipped beside Horus the Elder; live crocodiles were kept in his temples and mummified. The planetary and zodiacal values here are modern Hermetic readings, not ancient Egyptian ones.
Modern Practice
Invoked for strength, courage, protection on the water and the fertility of the land. Popular in modern Kemetic reconstruction as a god of the Nile's life-giving and dangerous power.
