Eros is desire itself: in the oldest Greek telling one of the first powers to exist, and in the later telling the winged archer son of Aphrodite. The Roman Cupid is his equivalent, kept separately here; the two are one figure in different dress.
Modern Practice
Eros is called on in love work, in attraction, and in any act of making that requires wanting something badly enough to finish it. His caution is the oldest one in the tradition: desire is a force, not a promise.
