Mythology Summary

Adonis is the beautiful youth loved by Aphrodite and Persephone, killed by a boar and divided between the underworld and the upper world for half the year each. His gardens were pots of fast-sprouting seed, carried out and thrown away, which says what his cult thought of him.

Modern Practice

Adonis is worked with at the turnings of the year and in love that is beautiful and temporary. His practice includes the Adonia: quick green things grown and offered, then let go.
