Mythology Summary

Kama is the Hindu god of desire, who shoots flower-tipped arrows from a bow of sugarcane, and who was reduced to ash by Shiva's third eye for interrupting his meditation - and who returns as an aspect of the mind. Desire, in the tradition, is both a god and a thing to be seen through.

Modern Practice

Kama is honoured at spring festivals and in love magic. His practice is the arrow and the caution that comes with it: what you aim at, you aim at someone real.
