Asha Vahishta ('Best Truth' or 'Best Righteousness') is the second of the Amesha Spentas, the hypostasis of asha - the truth, order and rightness of things that the Gathas set against druj, the lie. His creation in the later tradition is fire, and he is bound to the sacred fire of the Zoroastrian altar; the Pahlavi texts make him the opponent of the demon Indar. Asha is the Avestan continuation of the Indo-Iranian order that the Vedic hymns call rita.
Modern Practice
Invoked for truthfulness, justice and right order, and honoured through the sacred fire; in modern correspondence work, for integrity, oath-keeping and the clearing of deceit.
