Mythology Summary

Rati is the Hindu goddess of pleasure and desire, the consort of Kama the god of love and the daughter of Daksha. When Shiva reduces Kama to ash with his third eye, Rati's grief moves him to restore Kama as a disembodied spirit; she is the model of devoted love in the Puranas.

Modern Practice

Invoked for love, pleasure and the sweetness of spring, usually beside Kama.
