Mythology Summary

Radha is the beloved of Krishna and the central figure of Radha-Krishna devotion, especially in the Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition, where her selfless love (prema) is the model of the soul's relationship with God. The 12th-century Gita Govinda is her central poem, and Barsana and the Braj region are her pilgrimage sites.

Modern Practice

Invoked as the model of bhakti: devotion offered without condition. Central to the devotional poetry and song of North India.
