Pomona is the Roman goddess of fruit and orchards, who tended her trees behind a fence and refused every suitor until Vertumnus changed shapes to win her. She has no great myth, only a craft: the tree that is pruned, grafted, waited for and harvested.
Modern Practice
Pomona is called on for orchards, for grafting, and for any long cultivation that cannot be hurried. Her festival is the pruning and the harvest, and her practice is the work itself.
