Mythology Summary

Odysseus is the Greek hero of the Odyssey, who takes ten years to get home from Troy by a series of escapes he mostly invents himself, and comes back to find his house occupied. He is the hero of endurance and craft rather than of strength, and his story is the oldest travel narrative in Europe.

Modern Practice

Odysseus is called on by travellers and by those far from home. His practice is the long patience and the story told afterwards, and his offering is the meal shared with a stranger.
