Mythology Summary

Haurvatat ('Wholeness' or 'Perfection', later Khordad) is one of the two Amesha Spentas who guard the physical creation, paired with Ameretat; in the Gathas the two are invoked together as the reward of the righteous. In the later tradition of the Bundahishn, Haurvatat is the lord of the waters while Ameretat is lord of plants, and at the Frashegird, the renovation of the world, they are the powers that make the creation whole and deathless. Her day is Khordad, the sixth day of the month, and the third month, Khordad, carries her name.

Modern Practice

Invoked for healing, for bodily and psychic integrity, and for the completion of what has been begun; modern practice pairs her with Ameretat in work for restoration and for the waters of the world.
