Mythology Summary

Hanuman is the monkey god, son of the wind, who leaps to Lanka, carries a mountain of herbs to save a wounded prince, and serves Rama with a devotion so complete that he tears open his own chest to show him there. He is strength in service.

Modern Practice

Hanuman is called on for courage, for protection, and by anyone who has to carry something too heavy. Tuesdays and Saturdays are his, and his offering is the work done for someone else.
