Emet is 'truth', the word the Talmud makes the seal of God ('the seal of the Holy One is emet'), and its 441 is the square of 21, the value of ehyeh — the only common word whose value is the square of a divine-name number. Its letters are also the alphabet's first, middle and last, which is the tradition's own gloss on the spelling: truth is the whole alphabet, from aleph to tav. The word is recited at the end of the Shema and at the deathbed confession.
