Mythology Summary

Zephyrus is the Greek west wind, the gentlest of the four, who brings spring and is the only wind Homer regularly calls favourable. He loves the flower-nymph Chloris, who becomes Flora in the Roman telling, and the two of them are the spring itself.

Modern Practice

Zephyrus is called on for fair weather, for sailing west, for the flowering of a garden, and at the start of spring. His practice is light and seasonal: open the window, take the offering out of doors.
