Beth = 2, ordinal 2, reduced 2, no final form. Spelled in full, בית = 2+10+400 = 412.
Meaning
Beth is 'house', the letter that begins the Torah, and one of the seven doubles, pronounced b and v. The midrash asks why the world was created with a beth and answers that the letter is closed on three sides and open in front — so one may ask what came after creation but not what is above, below or before it. Its 2 is the first pair and the first division: the created world's duality, and the two tablets.
