One seventh of the circle, which never closes: seven does not divide 360 evenly, so the septile is the aspect of the thing that cannot be resolved into a whole number of steps. Modern practice reads it as fate or necessity, a point in the chart where the person is driven rather than choosing, and it is usually noticed at turning points rather than in the ordinary run of a life.
