Nakshatra Pada

Each nakshatra of thirteen degrees twenty minutes is divided into four padas of three degrees twenty minutes, and the pada is the finest division of the zodiac the tradition uses in ordinary reading: a nakshatra pada has its own navamsha sign and therefore its own lord, its own syllable, and its own reading in compatibility and in the finer judgement of a planet.
