The character of the planet itself, drawn from the divine names over the numbers of Mars's five-by-five square and printed in the plate between the characters of Graphiel and of Barzabel. It is not the same character as either the intelligence's or the spirit's, and the plate prints all three side by side, which is the surest way to tell them apart.
Office
Engraved on an iron plate or a sword with Mars fortunate, the seal is held to make a man potent in war, in judgments and in petitions, terrible to his enemies and victorious over them; cut in cornelian it is said to staunch blood and the menses. With Mars unfortunate, on a plate of red brass, it does the reverse. The seal is the planet's whole virtue in one mark, and the chapter's elections are what make the difference between its two faces.
