Mythology Summary

Hera the Maiden is the pre-marital aspect of Hera, worshipped at Stymphalia as Hera Pais beside Hera Teleia and Hera Chera; the annual bath that restored her virginity before her marriage to Zeus was at the spring Kanathos near Nauplia. She is kept as her own form because the cult and the stories around it differ from those of Hera the queen: this is the goddess of the threshold of marriage, not its enforcement.

Modern Practice

This aspect is called on by young women, at betrothals, and in spring for growth and restoration before a bond. Her practice is the bath and the garland: a deliberate return to one's own youth before giving it.
