A note on this entry Also spelled hastijihva. The Shiva Samhita lists the name and no course; the right-eye endpoint is commentarial, and several handbooks reverse the two eye channels. The identification with a nerve is modern. The chakra is ajna for the same reason as gandhari's, and with the same caveat: the corpus's sense table puts sight at the solar plexus, and this entry follows the organ.
Sanskrit हस्तिजिह्विका
Channel Runs in front of ida and ends at the right eye. Function One of the fourteen principal nadis, assigned by the handbooks to the right eye. The name means the elephant's tongue, an image of a long soft member reaching forward, and the channel is paired with gandhari as the second of the two eye channels.
