A note on this entry The Shiva Samhita gives the name in its list of fourteen and says nothing about where the channel goes. The end at the eye is the later commentarial tradition, and the handbooks disagree over which eye belongs to gandhari and which to hastijihvika. No element is recorded because the texts give none: the moon, sun and fire belong to ida, pingala and sushumna, not to these. The identification of such a channel with the optic nerve is a modern claim, not the text's. The chakra is ajna here because the channel serves the eye; note that this corpus's own sense table in chakras.json gives sight to the solar plexus and intuition to the third eye, so the two readings differ and this entry follows the channel's organ rather than the tanmatra.
Sanskrit गान्धारी
Channel Rises from the kanda and runs upward behind ida to the left eye. Function One of the fourteen principal nadis, and the channel the hatha handbooks assign to the left eye, so to the faculty of sight. The name is that of the ancient region of Gandhara in the north-west.
