Dhuma is the first of the five Sun-derived upagrahas: add 133 degrees 20 minutes to the Sun's longitude and the result is Dhuma, the point of smoke. It is malefic by nature and afflicts the bhava it occupies, and it is read in the classical lists of the evils a chart can carry.
