Function
The knot of Brahma, the first of the three granthis that block the ascent of kundalini. It is placed at the base, at muladhara, and holds the energy of the earth and of survival; the Hatha Yoga Pradipika says that when kundalini wakes the lotuses are pierced and the granthis with them.
