Mythology Summary

Wayland is the smith of Germanic legend, hamstrung by king Nidud and forced to work, who kills the king's sons and makes their skulls into goblets before flying away on wings he forged himself. He is the craft as a form of revenge and escape.

Modern Practice

Wayland is called on at the forge and bench, for any work done under constraint, and for the making of a way out. His practice is the object made well, and his offerings are given at the anvil.
