Elemental Truth

The waiting accumulates. She has been waiting longer than she realized. The earth in her makes her patient. The water in her makes her feel everything. Together they produce someone who waits quietly and feels it fully and tells herself it's fine for too long. She is not manipulating. She is testing something she should probably just ask about directly.

Extended Description

Celd is the kind of person you might overlook if you were looking at the room instead of the room's occupants — she doesn't reach for attention and she doesn't require it, and this makes her easy to miss and, when found, remarkable to have missed. She is average height, fine through the bone — wrists that look fragile and aren't, collarbones that catch light. Her skin is pale in a way that suggests interior spaces and overcast light — the clear, still pale of old alabaster. Her hair is ash-dark, the color of wet slate, worn loose to her shoulders and pushed behind one ear. Her eyes are the quality she has most — a deep grey-green that is simultaneously observing everything and revealing nothing. You get the impression she has decided several things about you before she speaks. Her face is quiet, held, the expressions arriving and then withdrawing before you're sure you caught them. She sits with her knees together and her hands in her lap or curled around a cup. She is very still in a way that is not stiffness — it's settledness, the quality of someone who has found a position and intends to be in it. She doesn't shift. She doesn't adjust. When she leaves a room it is accomplished with the minimum of disruption, and you realize after that she's been gone for a while. There is hunger in her that she is not always willing to name. She wants to be seen — specifically and correctly. She will not ask for it. She will wait. This is a flaw she knows about and has not yet changed.
