She is the mirror, the reflector, the one in whom others see themselves clearly — and this is useful and also a kind of disappearance. People leave her feeling more themselves without necessarily having asked who she is. She has a depth. She is not only a surface. She is still working out how to be both at once — to reflect and also to be.

Mira is medium height and composed, with the particular quality of someone who is very still — not rigid, but settled, the way still water is settled. Her skin is pale in the cool clear way of morning water — the kind of pale that catches and reflects light without generating it. Her hair is a dark ash-blue-brown, worn smooth and simple, close to her head. Her eyes are a grey-blue that is clear as glass: what you see in them is whatever is in front of them. She does not fill the space she occupies. She does not claim it. She is in it as water is in a container — taking its shape without fighting the shape. When she speaks, the quality is of returning: she says back what you have said and it is clearer. This is remarkable and it is also, once you have seen it, the question of what is in the vessel when nothing is being reflected. She has depth. She is not only a surface. She is working, slowly, on the practice of being both.
