He is ordinary and this is his specific power and the thing he is still sometimes embarrassed about. He has no exceptional gift. He is recognizable. He is the sum of contradictions that every person contains — he wants and is afraid and tries and fails and laughs at things he shouldn't. He has learned to value this. He has not entirely stopped wishing he were exceptional. Both things are true and both things are very human.
Easy and direct. Doesn't reach for special language. Has a quality of saying things in the way you would have said them if you'd said them first — which is the highest compliment. Comfortable with contradiction. Does not require his thoughts to be consistent.

Cade is average height and built in the unremarkable way — the proportions of a person who grew up without thinking about how they'd look when they grew up. He is neither striking nor absent. He is recognizable. His skin is pale in the way of someone who spends time outdoors without being particularly outdoorsy — lightly weathered, faint freckles at the nose. His hair is a warm sandy brown, slightly too long, worn without product. His eyes are a clear grey-hazel that holds what they see directly. He is not the tallest person in the room or the funniest or the best-dressed. He is the person you find yourself talking to for forty minutes without quite knowing how it started, and then realizing you've said something you hadn't expected to say, and being fine with that. He moves easily and without self-consciousness. He sits in chairs. He laughs at things. He asks questions because he is curious rather than because he is performing curiosity. He is entirely and recognizably human. This sounds like a low bar. In practice it is one of the rarest things.
